What to Expect at Hessel Park Church

When you arrive, a person will greet you and direct you to the seating area, where you can sit in designated locations, maintaining distance as appropriate.

Dress is as casual or dressy as you would like to be!

Sunday worship services begin at 10:30 a.m., and last about 60-70 minutes. Additional details about worship may be found on the Worship Services page.

When appropriate, a nursery is offered for the entire worship service for children ages newborn to 3 years. Children ages 4 and up are part of the worship service. If parents choose, during the sermon, children ages 4 to 7 are welcome to attend Sunday School. When there are children ages 4 to 7 regularly attending we offer a special children’s worship program.. Children are also welcome to stay in the entire worship service.

We usually sing hymns as well as contemporary worship music, accompanied by a pianist. We encourage all members to contribute their musical gifts to our worship, and on any given Sunday there may also be a violin, guitar, woodwinds, brass, or percussion helping us worship. From time to time, a church choir shares special musical pieces with the congregation to encourage our worship.

Our spoken liturgy is based on Scripture, and we shape our worship around the Christian calendar. Certain elements of the worship service stay the same each week and other elements vary. We seek to draw from historic Christian prayers as well as new prayers written by members of our congregation.

We typically celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month.

After the worship, we have a weekly coffee and refreshments gathering for all who wish to join in.

Hessel Park Church loves to feast together. We often hold meals together after the Sunday worship service, as well as holiday meals, summer BBQs, a Thanksgiving dinner (and hymn sing), and a flavorful potluck for All-Nations Heritage Sunday.
